Our aim.....

Welcome all Ladies to the Biking Belles - Chichester and District Ladies Cycling Club (TM). Formed on August 21, 2010.

Biking Belles: developing the wellbeing, fitness and confidence in ourselves. For women by women.

We meet every weekend and the rides vary in degrees of difficulty and details of the rides are posted well in advance here on the Blog. We always stop halfway for that important cuppa and a slice of cake!

To enjoy our rides you should be fit enough to cycle at least 20 miles. For the timebeing we are referring all Novice / Starter rides to the CDC website. The dates of their rides are noted on this Blog, on the Starter page.

It's been a very exciting first couple of years and we have fulfilled our original aim to introduce more ladies to cycling, improve our fitness and to make new friends.....and to work towards and achieve those once impossible goals.

The BBs have grown and has become an exciting Club to be involved with, in 2012 we formed the Charity Belles fundraising section, raising over £2,000 during our first year. We are proud to have as our patron the Countess of March and Kinrara.

Social Belles meet once a month for a pub supper. An ideal opportunity for anyone interested in joining the BBs to come along and meet us all. It's also a chance for existing BBs to discuss future ideas and plans.

We welcome new members and I hope you enjoy being part of the BB's and that we form a long and happy cycling friendship!

Sunday, April 17

It was another glorious morning, the sun was shining all the time we were out.

This was a practice run for our Family Charity Ride on Saturday, June 25.

We met at the parking area close to the start of the Centurion Way and welcomed new Belle - Joanna. From here we made our way towards Bosham, at the ferry point we decided to head straight on to our cafe in Bosham for breakfast/tea and cakes. The tide was just starting to come in, so we parked our bikes up on the high ledge just outside the cafe.

This little chap was having great fun in the water!

From the cafe we cycled back towards the ferry, however the sea had come in quite a way and a few of us had to cycle through the water.....

Bosham

The worst that happened was we got wet feet and seaweed in and around our wheels....

We made our way to the ferry meeting point, waved and waited for the boat, which didn't  take too long to arrive.

The ferry was able to take all 6 bikes, which was good and they were even loaded onto the boat for us - perfect!

The crossing probably took 5 mins to arrive in Itchenor....

The cost was £2.50 including our bikes.

From here we went to the Ship Inn to speak to the landlord, just to brief him about the evening on June 25 as there could be quite a few people wanting supper that night. He was great, they all seemed very friendly at the pub.

The pub seems also to be dog and cycle friendly....

After a cool drink we set for home along the Salterns Way, passing through the Chichester Yacht Club along the way.

Chichester Cathedral in the far distance....
This was a lovely ride and everyone should enjoy it on June 25.

We arrived back at the start at 1.50pm. Thanks to everyone who came out today....Elise, Angela, Ellie, Karen, Leyla, Joanna and for a short time...Jill.

Hope to see you again. Our next ride is Easter Saturday and we're meeting at 9.30am rather than 10am. Please email me if you're interested in joining us.
